Video Poker Rogue
A rogue-lite video poker game where your money is your life!
Demo Build 1.1 (8/12/2024) showcases the basic mechanics of VPR including:
- Video Poker Simulation
- Battle Mechanics: winning hands deals damage to the enemy, and enemy attacks reduce your Credits.
- Stances and Statuses: Try to Block or Riposte enemy attacks without succumbing to Stun or Bleed.
- Upgrade system: Every few hands choose an upgrade from one of three paths, unlocking stronger upgrades with progress.
- Settings Menu: Including Upgrade Tracking, a Tutorial, Volume Controls and an Action Log that keeps track of every event.
- Added difficulty settings
- Minor bug fixes
Full Release of Video Poker Rogue will include:
- More Enemies
- More Upgrades
- Difficulty Settings
- Challenge Modes
- Plenty to Unlock
Video Poker Rogue full release on Steam is tentatively set for the end of the year.

How to Play
Welcome to Video Poker Rogue!
Press the Bet button to set your Bet amount.
Higher risks bear higher rewards.
Your starting maximum Bet is based on the difficulty.
Press the “Draw” Button to deal 5 cards.
You start with 1 draw per hand, nice!
Click on the cards to Hold them between draws.
Held cards are indicated by a Blue Box.
Cards not held will be discarded between draws.
Try to make the best 5 card poker hand.
Hand Values are located on the PayTable.
Winnings are dealt as damage to the Enemy.
Every few hands, you will get a choice of upgrade.
Upgrades belong to one of three paths
Accumulating upgrades of the same path unlocks stronger upgrades.
Powerful artifacts will also appear, but can only be used once.
Every few hands, the Enemy will attack, dealing damage to your Credits!
Defeat the Enemy before they deplete your precious Credits!

It looks like any time I get the Crowned Knight at or under 60 health the game freezes up. Can still open setting and change the bet amount. Nothing else seems to work though.
having a glitch where when the moment i run the game it just starts flashing like crazy/oscillates between a frame of the game and a blank screen and is unplayable
Minor bug. If I get 2 pair and Jacks or Better has the same payout, it lists Jacks or better.
For the ability that lets you change a card color once a round, it should work after you get your 2nd draw of cards. It's not very good if you end the round immediately after the second cards are dealt
We'll fix that in the next update thanks for letting us know!
I have no idea where the bet button is, nor do I know if it's a button on my keyboard that I press.
Its the button to the left of the draw button. You cant change bet though until you get an upgrade to do so. We'll try to make that clearer, thanks for the feedback!
Good game but if you try to change the suit of the wild card, it turns invisible

The concept is good.
The game become more interesting as you specialized in one of the 3 skill paths.
